  • Box One™ Chain Tensioners are extruded then CNC-machined from 7075 aluminum for an optimal balance of strength and weight. A minimalist design adds style while reducing their overall mass. Laser-etched graphics that include wheel position guides and two 10mm mounting holes ensure perfect adjustability on most frames every time you remove and replace your wheel.

When used properly, Box One tensioners will protect your frame dropouts and hold your rear wheel in place. Keep in mind, however, they aren’t indestructible (neither are your dropouts). Install these lightweight chain tensioners with care and leave the 15-inch breaker bar in your toolbox.

    Box One Tensioners

Ultimately wanted these in gold, but where out of stock, settled for 'black' in the interim as can switch to son's BMX later down the roar. Look great, do the job and like the adjustment numbering indicators top and bottom. Easy to fit.

Doesn't fit my bike at the moment

Seems like a nice piece of equipment but amazingly neither hole is in the right place for it to work for me at the moment. This seems to be because my bike arrived from Source with too short a chain meaning that the axles are very close to the end of end of the drop outs (I can't even get the chain off to remove the wheel). This means that the bolt isn't long enough to make contact with the ends of the drop out. Then if I use the other hole the end of the tensioner comes into contact with the frame so it won't sit flush and therefore can't be used. When I change the chain I'll size it properly then a) I'll be able to get the wheel off and b) hopefully I'll be able to use this tensioner. Would of returned but I disposed of the packaging before trying to fit it.

    Hey Adam,
Thanks for your review. If you're finding the chain on a new bike is too short to reposition the rear wheel and is under high tension, you can try installing a half link to adjust the chain to the required length, or, wait until the chain has stretched enough from new which won't take too long. If you need any assistance with a purchase, please feel welcome to contact our customer services who will be happy to help.
